Stasi Headquarters Tour

Offices of Main Department XX (House 7)

The L-shaped building was erected in 1956 during the first major expansion of the Stasi headquarters. Several service units worked here up until the end, above all HA XX. This department was responsible for controlling and monitoring the arts, culture, sport, and churches, as well as the state apparatus. It also organised the spying and persecution of political dissidents.

Today, House 7 houses the archive exhibition “Access to Secrecy”, which is free of charge, and offices of the Stasi Records Archive.
