International Telecommunications Office

In summer 1945, under Soviet occupation, the telephone exchange on Dottistraße, built from 1925/1927, became the international telecommunications office and central radio centre for East Berlin. This was one of the reasons why the headquarters of the Ministry for State Security was established nearby in 1950. The new telecommunications office was erected in front of the old telephone exchange in the early 1960s. Although the telecommunications office was not an official worksite of the MfS, for a time Soviet secret service staff and Stasi technicians for special secret police tasks worked here alongside employees of the German postal service.

A housing complex exists here now.
